The Maya Graham Lab

The Graham lab is located on the 4th floor of the Helen Diller Family Cancer Research Building on the UCSF Mission Bay campus. Our research sits at the intersection of neural stem cell biology, gliomagenesis, and epigenetics. We use cutting-edge approaches such as gene-edited cerebral organoids and single-cell multi-omics to investigate the role of histone dynamics in glioma initiation, progression, and treatment resistance.

Curiosity

We are deeply driven to ask why. We are motivated to think creatively about unexpected results. We cultivate enthusiasm about new ideas and new connections.

Collaboration

We aim to foster an inclusive environment where all team members feel comfortable contributing, knowing that good ideas can come from anyone and the best ideas often come from interdisciplinary informal conversations. We are firmly committed to mentorship and professional development at every level.

Integrity

We are committed to being the best version of ourselves and doing the best science we can do every day. We believe in open honest communication in our day-to-day conversations and in our science. We adhere to the highest standards of scientific rigor, transparency and accountability.

Resilience

Science is hard and full of failures, both small and large. In these moments, we give ourselves space to process and then lean on our other values and each other to bounce back. We ascribe to a growth mindset where failures are seen as learning opportunities.
